Changes to our appointment system
From the 15 April 2019 we will be starting econsults. By visiting the practice website you will be able to select a link called 'Consult On-line'. You will then be prompted to complete a health questionnaire. This will be emailed to the surgery and someone from the surgery will contact you with either an appointment, advice or may be a prescription. We hope that this system will allow patients easier access to the surgery without having to use the telephones.
You will also be able to send in requests for administrative queries for things like sick notes.
Problems with the telephone
As many of you are aware we have had a lot of problems with our telephone system. This is a problem across the whole of Waters Green Medical Centre.
When patients are calling the telephones sound as if they are engaged and also calls are dropping when we are speaking to patients. This makes patients think that we have put the phone down on them.
Please can we reassure everyone that we have a team of people answering the telephones in the surgery at all times.
We have escalated this problem to our IT department that look after the telephones. We are waiting for our telephone lines to be upgraded and hope that this will be done as soon as possible.
In the meantime we have other staff who have direct dial telephone numbers if you need to get through to the surgery urgently please use one of these numbers to contact us. We also have an email address that you can contact us on.
Important News - Gabapentin and Pregabalin
Pregabalin and Gabapentin are now classed as controlled drugs.
If you take this medication your prescription will no longer go by electronic transfer to the pharmacy it will be printed. The surgery will send these prescriptions for you to the pharmacy that you nominated.
If you normally collect your prescriptions you will now need to bring some form of ID to be able to collect this medication.
Evening and Weekend GP appointments now available
There are now appointments available to see a GP, Nurse or Healthcare Assistant in the evenings and at the weekends. These appointments are held either in The Hub next door to Waters Green Medical Centre or on the 1st Floor in Waters Green Medical Centre. Please call reception at Cumberland House on 428081 to book an appointment. To cancel an appointment when the surgery is closed please call 264089 to speak to The Hub or phone 264095 to speak to the 1st Floor.
Fitness to take part in sporting activities
The doctors at Cumberland House would like to notify all patients that they are unable to complete fitness to take part in sporting or holiday activity forms. They request that patients need to see a doctor who specialises in this area.
Home Visit Requests
The doctors politely request that all home visit requests where possible are phoned through to the surgery before 12 noon.
Drop-in baby clinic
There will no longer be a drop-in baby clinic at Waters Green Medical Centre after Tuesday 13 February 2018.

Waters Green Medical Centre has introduced a new car parking control system. The aim is to improve access for patients attending appointments by reducing levels of unauthorised parking. Patients will be required to enter their FULL car registration number in a terminal based in your own surgery. Failure to comply will result in a parking charge of £70.

You may be eligible for free programmes through the Everybody Healthy programme.

- Active lives - 12 week physical activity programme.
- Move more exercise programme - specialist rehabilitation exercises classes for COPD rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation, fibromyalgia rehabilitation, lower back pain rehabilitation and cardiac rehabilitation.

The Friends and Family Test was initially introduced by NHS England in April 2013 and has been asked in all NHS in-patient and A&E departments across England. In October 2013 it was introduced to NHS maternity services.
From 1 December 2014 all GP Practices have to introduce the Friends and Family Test.
The Friends and Family Test is an important feedback tool that supports the fundamental principle that people who use NHS services should have the opportunity to provide feedback on their experience.
It asks people if they would recommend the services they have used and offers a range of responses. When combined with supplementary follow-up questions, the Friends and Family Test provides a mechanism to highlight both good and poor patient experience. This kind of feedback is vital in transforming NHS services and supporting patient choice.
Part of the requirements of the Friends and Family Tests is that we will have to gather the results and analyse them rapidly to see if any action is required, and we will then make it publicly available. The results will be published on Gov.uk and the NHS Choices website (www.nhs.uk)
The Friends and Family Test can be taken on this website by going to the home page and click on 'Patient Survey'. It will also be available soon via text. If we hold your mobile number you will receive a text within two hours of your appointment asking you to complete the survey. We will also be introducing the test on a tablet which will be based on the reception counter.
Booking Appointments Throughout the Day
Patients no longer need to telephone at 8am to book an appointment. Appointments can be made at anytime throughout the day.
Book up to 6 weeks ahead
Patients are now able to book appointments up to 6 weeks ahead.
We now offer telephone consultations with all Doctors at the Practice. These are available in the morning at the end of the doctor's surgery. Please speak to our receptionist if you would like to take advantage of this.
Since 1988, the Charity has provided a wide range of services for people aged 50+ who live in Cheshire East. With over half the local population now over the age of 50, the organisation has never been busier.
The Charity is continually reviewing the services it provides for local older people. We believe those over 50 are best represented nationally by our partnership with the national charity, Age UK.
In March 2011 we changed our name to reflect our partnership, however, the Charity will continue to be an independent entity, managed by local trustees, funded by local donations and supporting local older people.

Expert Patient Programme
East Cheshire Trust are about to start their summer programme of Expert Patients and Looking After Me Courses these ill commence in June.
The aim of the expert patient programme is to give people the tools, techniques and confidence to manage their condition on a daily basis.
Courses promote self-advocacy; they provide information about making informed choices and working in partnership with healthcare professionals.
Designed to provide tools and techniques to help you manage your condition better, our courses are aimed at a wide range of people, reflecting diversity in terms of different health conditions, age groups, geographical locations and ethnicity.
What is self-management?
Self-management is looking after yourself in a healthy way. If you have a long-term health condition there are some extra things you may need to consider such as making changes to your diet, different types of exercise, dealing with pain, managing your medication etc.

Organ and Blood Donation
GP Surgeries are now unable to register patients for organ and blood donations. All patients that wish to register for organ and blood donation can now self-register through the NHS Blood and Transplant website at www.nhsbt.nhs.uk
